After deliberating for 20 minutes, the Best in Show judge at the Westminster Dog Show David Merriam announced the winner of the prestigious title and shocked the crowd at Madison Square Garden.
Miss P, an adorable 4-year-old beagle from British Columbia, nabbed top honors at the 139th annual Westminster Dog Show in New York City and outshined more than 2,000 dogs of 192 breeds at the two-day doggie Oscars.
For the audience, this decision was rather upsetting as the judge ignored all their favorites. However, Will Alexander, Miss P’s handler, doesn’t agree with them and says she deserved to win.
“She does this quite a lot but not at quite this magnitude. She is a princess. She just never let me down. She didn’t make any mistakes.”
Miss P, America’s top dog, is the grandniece of Uno, the first beagle to ever win the big show, in 2008. Congrats!
