Hollywood A-lister George Clooney and his human rights attorney wife Amal Clooney love and help dogs in need, giving unfortunate pups a second chance at happiness. Only two months after they rescued and adopted a homeless pooch that was found begging for food in front of a restaurant, the power couple saved another pup with an even more wretched tale. So, how did it all began?
Twenty-two pooches were rescued from a hoarder’s house in Ohio, one of them being a disabled terrier with a leg that swayed. LuvFurMutts Animal Rescue said on their Facebook page that he ‘walked like a hyena’ and that they took him to several adoption events with no luck whatsoever. People would just stare at his physical deformity and the ones that wanted to adopt him gave up on the idea when they saw him. The animal rescue was convinced they would never find Nate a forever home.
To make matters worse, one woman cried when she met the pooch and told the rescue staff she would be “depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day.” Things seemed hopeless. However, the rescue received a phone call one day from a woman who introduced herself as ‘Angel’ and explained that she worked for none other than George Clooney as the actor’s personal assistant.
Apparently, George and Amal had seen pictures and videos of the terrier online and agreed that Nate would be an ideal addition to their family. To be precise, the duo wanted to adopt the dog and give him to George’s parents for Christmas. They believed this was an excellent idea because Clooney’s mom and dad were grieving the death of their pet terrier, who passed away a few weeks before Christmas.
When Nate was brought to his parents’ Kentucky home, George’s mom Nina cried when she saw the dog, as well as when she read the card from George and Amal that was delivered with the pup.The Clooneys didn’t just adopt Nate. They also made a donation to LuvFurMutts, which turned out to be pretty useful to the shelter because it paid for the dog’s previous surgeries.
The rescue decided to wait for one month before revealing the happy news about Nate’s adoption to the public so as not to disturb George and Amal during the holidays.
