Here’s How To Help Your Dog Lose Weight
We all know that obesity is a huge problem in the U.S., with more than two-thirds of the population being overweight. To make the situation even more bizarre, our dogs are also getting fatter by the year. More than 40 percent of all American dogs are either overweight or obese, which means that the health of 35-40 million dogs is jeopardized.
Here’s what you should do if you have a chubby dog and want to help them lose those extra pounds:
Cut down on their calorie intake. Feed your dog healthy foods that meet their daily nutritional needs and include more raw and canned foods in their diet. What you shouldn’t do is give them leftovers or enable them to munch on human foods or the foods you give other pets.
Play with them more, it’s as simple as that. If they are fat, they are obviously not active enough and should be exercised more.
Though these two pieces of advice sound rather easy to follow, the truth is that you have to change both your and your dog’s habits. You two need to spend more quality time together, playing with new toys and coming up with engaging activities and exercises. However, if your dog does lose the additional weight, they will be a happier pet. Most importantly, you will help in prolong their life for two or more years.
