Have you ever looked your dog straight in the eyes and felt like they really get you, understand your feelings and your needs? You are not the only one. Many people have noticed this, and dogs are now being used to help people in all sorts of situations and with many different issues. As a matter of fact, it seems that our two-legged friends can help us overcome any misfortune.

Nowadays, funeral parlors across the US are using dogs to help mourners deal with loss. The presence of dogs is being offered free of charge, and almost all clients who have been offered this type of service have accepted it. A dog arriving to a funeral or a wake changes the atmosphere, and tends to go straight to the person who needs help the most.

Just by sitting there and being available for petting and hugs, dogs have helped thousands of people feel better in the worst moments of their lives. One boy even started talking again while petting a therapy dog. The boy had just lost his 3-year-old sister, and was telling the pooch about her.

This just goes to prove that dogs are, indeed, man’s best friends.

This is such a great idea. When you are swimming in a sea of stress and mourning, there is nothing more comforting than a dog to hug. I experienced this while my mother was in a hospital dying of congestive heart failure. This hospital had two comfort dogs that made the rounds. I was never so happy to see anyone as these two.
