And The Most Popular Dog In America For The 24th Year In A Row Is…

The American Kennel Club has just released its list of the most popular dogs in 2014 and no one seems to be surprised that the beloved Labrador retriever came out on top.

The family-friendly dog breed is America’s top dog for the 24th consecutive year and AKC Vice President Gina DiNardo said that people in the US definitely love Labs the most.

The much-anticipated list shows German shepherds, Golden retrievers, Bulldogs and Beagles following Labs in the top five. In addition to being the fifth most popular dog in the USA, the Beagle was recently in the spotlight when a lovely lady named Miss P outshined every other breed at the prestigious Westminster dog show.

The Bulldog is also becoming more and more popular and the AKC explains that the breed moved up one spot on this year’s list because they have ‘a natural tendency to bond with kids, an easy-to-care-for coat and minimal exercise needs.’ When it comes to the darling French Bulldogs, they made it to the top 10 this year for the first time in nearly a century.

Here are America’s top 10 most popular dogs in 2014:

  3. Golden Retriever
  4. Bulldog
  5. Beagle
  6. Yorkshire Terrier
