Elsa The Pit Bull Saved From Frozen Nightmare

On January 7th, 2015, a concerned citizen of Wilson, N.C., saw an abused dog chained to a plastic crate and contacted For the Love of Dogs NC to rescue the half-starved and almost frozen to death Pit Bull.

When the owner of the non-profit organization Max Fitzgerald saw the female dog, he was certain that it was too late. Luckily, when he touched her, the Pit Bull moved her tail. However, to Fitzgerald’s horror, she was not the only neglected dog on the property.

A male dog, who is now thought to be the Pit Bull’s pup, was found inside a plastic crate filled with feces and urine. Both the dogs were taken to the shelter where vets managed to save their lives. Rescuers named the female Pit Bull Elsa after the Disney character and the male canine Colin. They are both recovering well, although Elsa still has a long way to go. Sadly, she is also heartworm positive, but her treatment has to be delayed because she was found completely malnourished. On the other hand, she is now eating, running and playing on her own – things she was unable to perform when she was brought to the shelter.

For the Love of Dogs is working with an attorney to make sure that Elsa and Colin’s abusers do not go unpunished for their cruel behavior towards dogs.
