Everything You Need To Know Before Travelling With Your Dog

Since you want your dog to enjoy your trip together, veterinarian Heather Loenser shared her top tips for travelling with Fido.

First of all, consider car safety.  In some states, it’s illegal for dogs to ride unrestrained in a vehicle.

Also, make sure that your dog is well behaved wherever you take them – be considerate guests.  Although you’re a dog person doesn’t mean that everyone wants to be around pets during their vacation.

Further, download the American Red Cross’ mobile app which contains veterinary advice, interactive features and a locator for American Animal Hospital Association-accredited hospitals across the United States.

Don’t change your dog’s diet because some foods can upset their stomach and you definitely don’t want your dog to feel ill during a trip. Last but not least, don’t hesitate to contact your vet and ask them anything you need to know.

‘’When you think about it, taking your dog along on vacation can be less expensive than paying for a kennel or dog sitter. That leaves more to spend on fun activities to enjoy with your dog.”
