Meet Pumpkin, The Raccoon Who Shares Her Life With Dogs

Pumpkin is just like any other pet, except for the fact that she is a raccoon who thinks she’s a dog.

Her phenomenal story could have ended tragically as she fell from a tree, broke her leg and was abandoned by her mother last year. To make things worse, all of this happened in the same day. Fortune, however, smiled on Pumpkin.

When Rosie Kemp found an injured baby raccoon in her backyard, and when Pumpkin’s mother never showed up, Rosie, her husband William and their daughter Laura Young decided to keep the little one and raise her with their two rescue dogs.

Here’s what Young said:

“She instantly bonded with us and our two rescue dogs and follows me and our two dogs everywhere we go. She now thinks she is a dog … she is able to play and be rough with them and she respects them when they have had enough.”

Pumpkin has become an Internet sensation ever since she found her new home, and even though we think she’s absolutely adorable, her family says owning a raccoon is not all fun and games.

To quote Pumpkin’s owners:

“Raccoons are NOT pets. They are wild animals, so they are quite moody. Unlike dogs and cats, they are not domesticated. Like a spoilt child if she doesn’t get her way, she will let you know.”

We would still adopt her any day.
